Cazenovia The Cazenovia League of Women Voters will hold its Annual Dinner Meeting at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at the Lincklaen House’s Stone’s Throw. To RSVP, contact Wendy Taylor at 655-8920.
This year’s meeting will once again feature the Cazenovia High student who attended the Students Inside Albany conference this spring. Lauren Devine, currently a junior, was the representative from Cazenovia.
Devine attended this intensive four-day training experience designed to immerse students in the process by which public policy is proposed, enacted and changed in New York state and give them the tools they can use to influence and affect this process.
While in Albany, Devine heard from a variety of speakers including elected officials, journalists, good government organizations and LWV experts, who spoke on varying topics from lobbying to an overview of New York state government, from transparency in government to the role of media in politics and much more. Lauren will share some of what she learned from this training.
At the annual meeting, Helen Beale will also present an update on the Cazenovia LWV’s Local Study of Shared Services. During the 2011-2012 year the committee has been studying the village and town courts to determine whether and how complete or partial consolidation would be beneficial.
The town and village concur that it would be good to have the courts share space at the village municipal building, but that has yet to be accomplished.
The public is invited to this dinner meeting.
Those who wish to only attend the meeting portion of the evening can do so beginning at 7:15 p.m.
