To the editor:
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter in support of Jim Joseph for a position on the Cazenovia Village Board.
I have known Jim for almost 20 years and for five of those years, I had the great pleasure of working directly with him at Oneida Ltd. while I served as the director of international marketing under his leadership as vice president of the international division.
In those years I observed Jim tackle difficult business issues in multi-cultural environments; always handling the testiest of situations with utmost diplomacy and sensitivity to specific market issues. As the eventual president and CEO of the company, Jim transitioned Oneida Ltd. from bankruptcy to the dynamic tabletop company it once again is today. He executed all of his responsibilities and managed the people with whom he worked with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism.
His particular strength was his ability to be fair and open minded, always willing and able to listen to all sides of the argument before making a decision.
In his most recent position as executive in residence for Le Moyne College’s new school of business, Jim will be sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of business leaders by creating a series of business case studies based on his experiences at Oneida Ltd. The focus of these case studies will be on leadership and ethics in the business world. I can’t think of a more qualified individual to champion this program than Jim.
More recently, my husband and I have watched Jim apply his talents as a member of the Everson Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees. Last summer Jim chaired a membership drive for the museum at Lorenzo generating new memberships from our community and raising additional revenues for the museum.
His decision to host the event at the Lorenzo State Historic Site demonstrated his commitment to supporting our community’s natural treasures; commitment made real through actions.
I know Jim is dedicated to the Cazenovia community. He and Renee have been and will continue to be active participants in our village’s life. I also know Jim wants to see our village thrive through thoughtful, disciplined business and community-friendly growth strategies.
It is our great honor to recommend and endorse our friend and my former colleague to the Cazenovia Village Board.
