To the editor:
I am writing to support Dave Porter’s bid for re-election as Cazenovia Village Trustee.
It has been a pleasure serving with Dave since his election in 2010. He is consistently prepared, professional and present. His voice may seem soft-spoken, but is a strong one at the table.
He is thoughtful, analytical and creative. His background in engineering and his environmental sensibility have filled a knowledge gap on our team and have been valuable tools.
Dave has a long history of community service. Anyone who knows him from his decades of work with Cazenovia Youth Soccer Association or the Lions Club will know that Dave has a pure spirit of volunteerism that carries through his work. He has no personal stake in any of his village duties, and is always completely objective and dedicated to the public interest.
Halfway through Dave’s first term, his workload increased significantly when we re-organized the board following Mayor Dougherty’s retirement. Dave absorbed his new commissions seamlessly and without complaint in the interest of the team.
He has not only maintained the demanding parks and rec areas, but has continued to grow them and add his own enhancements.
Village board terms are very short at two years, and the learning curve is very steep. For a small village, there is a lot of information to take in and a lot of relationships to build before one can start to feel like the training wheels are off. Dave’s wheels are off and we need his experience at the table.
Please join me in supporting Dave’s continuation on the board by voting for him on June 19.
