The Cazenovia Central School District Athletic Department recently announced that Danielle “Dani” LeRoux will be taking over as head basketball coach for the girls varsity program this coming school year. She replaces Paul Belodoff, who leaves the program after a one-year coaching term.
LeRoux is originally from Syracuse and is a graduate of Bishop Grimes High School. LeRoux first attended Paul Smith’s College and later attended SUNY Brockport where she received a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in adapted physical education.
She was a member of the varsity basketball teams at both colleges.
LeRoux has also recently completed a School Administration Certificate from McDaniel College in Maryland.
Before moving to Maryland in 2004, she coached basketball at Bishop Grimes and assisted at Lemoyne College. LeRoux has coached many other sports in her career, including girls lacrosse, tennis, field hockey and basketball and enjoys them all, but she said her favorite is basketball.
LeRoux had been the head coach for the varsity girls basketball team in Maryland at Perry High School for the last five years. During the past eight years in Maryland, she has coached a variety of sports and was the assistant athletic director at her former school.
LeRoux said she loves coaching and working with people of all ages and abilities, and is very excited to have the opportunity to work for and with the people of Cazenovia and to now be home with her family.
“I look forward to starting this wonderful new journey here at Cazenovia High School,” LeRoux said.
