To the editor:
Please extend our warm appreciation to your readers in Cazenovia for such a warm welcome during the Cazenovia Foutth of July Parade.
There is nothing that inspires our volunteers more than hearing people from the crowd yell, “Thank You” and/or “Keep Up The Great Work!”
At the time of the parade, across the United States more than 1,100 Red Cross disaster workers were spread out over 13 states, helping people forced from their homes by power outages and high temperatures in the Midwest and mid-Atlantic, wildfires in the west, and flooding from Tropical Storm Debby in Florida.
There were 1,300 people staying in 61 Red Cross shelters and we were supporting hundreds of government-run cooling centers. Here in Central New York, trained volunteers from our community continue to respond to a disaster every 26 hours on the average.
It was an honor to be included in such a special Cazenovia celebration. Thank you again.
