CAVAC: A grateful ‘thank you’ to the Cazenovia community

To the editor:

On July 7 and 8, Cazenovia Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp held its annual Arts and Crafts Show at Lorenzo State Historic Site.

More than 135 craft and food vendors participated in CAVAC’s only fundraising event of the year. An estimated 6,856 visitors attended the event over the weekend. The huge success of the event can be attributed to the efforts of many people and organizations throughout the community.

A very special recognition and thank you goes to the following for their donation of prizes for CAVAC’s annual craft show raffle which is a significant part of this fundraising effort: An anonymous donor for a $500 cash prize, Howard Ryan Contracting for a kayak and paddle, Cazenovia Equipment for a John Deere Garden Cart, Cazenovia Golf Club for a golf outing for four, Gift Certificate from the Lincklaen House for brunch for two, $30 Gift Certificate from the Blue Canoe, and a large maple, handmade wooden paddle board from Cazenovia Cut Block. In addition to these generous supporters, many community organizations assisted CAVAC in providing logistical support for the event — Lorenzo State Historic site for their beautiful setting and accommodating, helpful staff, Cazenovia College for supplying the tables and chairs, Cazenovia Country Club for the use of their golf carts, TOPS for their donation of doughnuts, the Blue Canoe Grill for their fabulous food tent, complimentary coffee for the vendors and the wonderful dinner Saturday night, Gene and Mary Smith of Hannay Farms for the much-enjoyed display of their miniature horses.

In addition, there are many others we would like to thank whose efforts contribute to making this event successful: all of the area businesses and merchants who purchase and sell raffle tickets on our behalf, the entire community for supporting the event, the talented arts and crafts, and food vendors who make the event what it is, as well as all of the dedicated and involved CAVAC members who volunteered their time for months of planning to bring this event to reality.

The proceeds from the annual Arts and Crafts Show allow CAVAC to continue in their mission of providing emergency services throughout the community. We thank you all for your continued support.
