Lysander Parks and Recreation: Defensive driving course offered

— Liberty Mutual will offer a driver’s reduction course from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, July 23 and 25, at the large group room at the Lysander Town Hall. Designed to meet the needs of all motorists, no tests are given and participants are eligible to receive a 10 percent discount on their car insurance. You do not need to be insured by Liberty Mutual to attend these classes. Free coffee and donuts will be provided by instructor Duncan Sisk.

Adult tennis

Lessons will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. (for beginners) and from 7 to 8 p.m. (for intermediate players) Tuesday nights from Aug. 7 to 21 at Lysander Town Park. These group lessons are for teen and adults from 16 years and older.

Junior tennis lessons

Group lessons for ages 5 to 15 years old and will be offered at the beginner and intermediate levels Monday and Wednesday mornings and evenings at Lysander Park. These will be four, one-hour lessons for four weeks.

Youth golf lessons

This beginner level golf clinic will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. (for 6- to 12-year-olds) and 6 to 7 p.m. (for 13- to 18-year-olds) Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 31 to Aug. 9, at Timber Banks Golf Course. Youth golf clubs will again be available through the Sticks for Kids program. This is a great way to let your child learn the game of golf without buying expensive kids clubs. These clubs will be loaned on a first come, first serve policy, with a security deposit of $50 by check. Contact the parks and recreation office for availability; kids clubs are limited to the first 10 golfers.
