— Project CAFÉ, founded in 1995, has had a positive impact on the Cazenovia community for nearly 17 years.

Project CAFÉ provides after-school programming, leadership training, community service opportunities, mentoring and drug- and alcohol-free activities for youth in the greater Cazenovia area.

Its student leaders play a central role in carrying out major community events such as the Winter Festival, Earth Day Clean-up, July Fourth Parade, 9/11 Observance and the Annual Toy Shop.

It is also a significant supporter of the community space at Common Grounds (35 Albany St.) in the village of Cazenovia.

Project CAFÉ has been fortunate to enjoy financial support from a wide range of sources. By combining careful budgeting, exceptional volunteers and a blend of private donations along with federal, state and local grants, they have been able to maintain fiscal stability since their incorporation as an independent non-profit in 1998. Significant budget cuts at the state and federal level have dramatically reduced public funding for many non-profit programs. By demonstrating its exceptional value to the region, Project CAFÉ has been able to retain a major portion of its state funding. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts and program consolidations, its federal funding, which currently accounts for approximately 25 percent of the annual budget, will be completely phased out at the end of this fiscal year.

Project CAFÉ’s volunteer board of directors believe deeply in the mission and effectiveness of the organization and are determined to cultivate local donors at all levels to replace the pending loss of government funding. The board hopes the public will share their passion for maintaining the quality of life in our community that Project CAFÉ contributes to so actively by becoming an annual sponsor.

Donations of all sizes are sincerely appreciated, but a unique opportunity exists to double your impact. At the beginning of the year, Project CAFÉ was provided with a matching grant challenge where every donation of at least $250 will be matched up to a total of $5,000. If they successfully meet this challenge by the beginning of the new fiscal year (Sept. 1), Project CAFÉ will have made up for the pending loss of grant funding and have a full school year to develop a long-term, sustainable funding strategy. The board would like to thank the community in advance for its thoughtful consideration of a donation at any level.

Project CAFÉ, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with all donations deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Checks may be made payable to “Project CAFÉ” and sent to PO Box 408, Cazenovia, NY 13035.
