To the editor:
Please extend our heartfelt thanks to my neighbors in Cazenovia for including the American Red Cross in their 2011 charitable giving.
Because of our donors and volunteers we are able to help the International Red Cross Society around the world in places like Haiti and Japan.
Across the United States last year: 200 times each day, our trained volunteers helped a family who lost everything in a house fire or other disaster; 475 times each day, our Services to Armed Forces volunteers helped to connect deployed service members with their families; 21,000 times each day, someone received a blood transfusion from one of our donors; 43,000 times each day, another person receives life-saving safety and preparedness training; and every 60 seconds of every day, 250 people benefit from the services you make possible.
Thanks to you, in Central New York last year: we trained 32,042 people in CPR, AED, Water Safety and other health-related courses; responded to a fire every 26 hours (on the average), opened 423 cases and provided emergency assistance to 1,248 people; registered our 2,289th volunteer and welcomed our 891st unregistered volunteer; conducted 1,500 blood drives; sent 7,000 holiday cards to military service members (up from 3,000 the year before); and delivered 712 emergency messages to service members from their families.
If you would ever like to join me for lunch and learn more about the impact of your gift, please call me any time. My cell number is 374-6021.
