Caz town board discusses 2012 lake treatment, hydrofracking

— “We’re concerned people are getting involved in leases that aren’t advantageous to them, and may be putting themselves and the community in jeopardy,” Monforte said. “We’re looking for more participation from general citizens coming to the meetings and getting up-to-date on [high-volume hydraulic fracturing].”

In other board news:

—Supervisor Monforte named councilor Pat Race 2012 Town of Cazenovia Deputy Supervisor.

—The Cazenovia Republican was designated as the official newspaper of the town of Cazenovia.

—Portions of Ridge Road, Ten Eyck Avenue and Lincklaen Road were approved to be used for the eighth-annual Chilly Chili 5k Run/Walk, Jan. 29.

—A substance abuse testing agreement was authorized. Industrial Medical Associates will conduct the annual drug tests of highway department employees in 2012.
