J-D indoor track rises to top at Constantino meet

Red Rams beat F-M; Hornets also second in boys meet

— ESM's Amanda Wall rose to second place in the triple jump, going 32 feet 11 1/4 inches, as the Hornets' Mary Barger took a close second (3:14.18) to Marcellus' Rachel Garn (3:13.65) in the 1,000-meter run.

In the boys portion of the Constantino meet, F-M earned 51 points, second only to CNS, who won with 65 points. J-D tied for fourth with 24 points.

Austin Perez and Langston Lightcap gave the Hornets a 1-2 finish in the 300 sprint, Perez winning in 36.65 seconds and Lightcap second in 38.22 seconds. Lightcap also helped Hamza Elhabbal, Charlie Beeler and Aaron Blitz to second in the 4x400 relay in 3:42.10, with J-D's foursome of Zach Liebmann, Will Sterriker, Nate Sturgeon and Navale Taylor third in 3:43.41.

Nick Ryan had to settle for third place in the 1,000 in 2:38.98, with Ben Thomas (2:42.94), both of them trailing ESM's Mike Coogan, who with a time of 2:35.55 beat the field by nearly two seconds.

CBA's Brendan Smith won the 3,200-meter run in 9:33.07, pulling away from F-M's Bryce Millar (9:51.20) and the rest of the field. Millar, Ryan, Ben Thomas and Colin Fitzgibbons were third in the 4x800 relay in 8:39.92.

Also for J-D, Sterriker rose to second in the 55 hurdles in 8.20 seconds, with Sturgeon sixth. Liebmann cleared 11 feet for third place in the pole vault. Ryan Peters got fifth in the shot put (40 feet 4 inches) as F-M's Zhengyue Zhu added a fifth in the triple jump (39 feet 3 inches) and sixth in the long jump.

All of these local teams are back at SRC Arena next Friday for an appearance at the Bob Grieve Memorial Invitational.
