— Butterfly-topped cupcakes and a $168,000 check were delivered to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital Dec. 28.

Chris Arnold and Ellen Yeomans presented the check to Upstate representing proceeds raised from Paige’s Butterfly Run, the annual fundraiser named in honor of their daughter, Paige Yeomans Arnold. The race, held June 4 in Syracuse, attracted more than 2,000 participants.

The money will benefit Upstate’s Dr. William J. Waters Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders by funding pediatric cancer research and providing special services for children treated at the center.

Paige was diagnosed with leukemia in 1993, as she was finishing first grade at Palmer Elementary School in Baldwinsville. She died a year later.

Paige’s Butterfly Run, held since 1996, has raised more than $1 million.
