Library Focus: Winter-spring story time signups underway

— The big holidays are over, but there’s always something new to celebrate with special rubber stamping projects designed by local artisan Missy Shipman at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12. Registration and $15 materials fee required.

Sea grass basket workshop

Make a 10x13-inch utility basket with handle adorned by sea grass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14. Registration and $45 materials fee required.

Puppy loves - books

If your child is a reluctant reader, bring them in to meet and work with Ella, a certified therapy dog. Each child will get a session in the Story Room for 15 minutes where they can read to Ella and improve their confidence. Sign up ahead of time at the Children's Desk for sessions beginning at 1 p.m. Jan. 14 or 28; if no one has signed up for a slot it will be first come, first served. Come to the Children's Desk or call 635-5631 to reserve a 15-minute session with Ella.

Wii games and more

Join us from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 (Martin Luther King Day) for a Wii Bowling tournament and other games for all ages. Other games will be available for everyone, or bring your own to share. Wii Bowling tournament requires pre-registration so we can set up appropriate brackets; for the other games just walk in.

Books for Breakfast

Fan of the Ya Ya Sisterhood? Make new literary friends while reading “Saving CeeCee Huneycutt,” by Beth Hoffman at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. Refreshments will be served. New members are welcome.

Drop in hang-out

Snack and catch up with friends from around town or log a little time on the interwebs from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Pulling Threads

Pulling Threads, a group dedicated to helping you get those sewing, knitting and handwork projects finished, will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18.
