Cazenovia At approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, officers of the Cazenovia Police Department detained five illegal immigrants after a routine traffic stop and brief roadside investigation.
Cazenovia Police Officers determined that the driver and four passengers in the stopped vehicle were from Guatemala, residing in the United States without the proper paperwork.
Officers at the scene notified the Department of Immigration as well as two U.S. Customs Border Patrol agents stationed in Oswego, who responded to the Cazenovia Police Department, located at 90 Albany St. in Cazenovia.
The five illegal immigrants, Mario M. Basquez, Danyx Basquez, Carla Basquez, Julie Basquez and Jonathan Lopez, were then turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol agents who transported the three males and two females to separate detention facilities, pending deportation hearings.
