Prepare for the whirlwind of activities in March

— February will be done in a flash but the march of history and events goes on here at the library. Stop in soon to help celebrate: Read Across America, Teen Tech Week (with special computer courses for teens) and, of course, St. Patrick’s Day at your friendly local library.

Troubleshooting

Drop in at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 29 with your portable electronic device and we’ll try to make it behave. Be sure the device is charged and bring the instruction manual if you have it.

Job hunting for fun and profit

Jobs are still high on everyone’s agenda and we’re here to help you get back in the paycheck posse. The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday (March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29) with the help and guidance of a librarian.

Thursday tech times

At 7 p.m. Thursday evenings, we offer a series of tech courses for full time students and folks already working the home or office shift from nine to five. All courses are hands on and require registration; call us at 635-5631 or drop in to register. Courses are: Basic Internet Security (March 1), Learn More about EBooks (March 8); Finally, free yourself from expensive software with the free OpenOffice alternative -OpenOffice for your Office (March 15); and OpenOffice Writer for your Office (March 22); and OpenOffice Impress for your Office (March 29).

Friday tech help

Reading across America and lots of other tasks will be easier than ever starting Fridays in March when we begin our Tech Help Drop In beginning at 1 p.m. Drop in with your device (iPad, Android, smart phone) or laptop any Friday and we’ll try to answer your questions. Bring in your Ereader on Friday, March 9 for a special Ereader session.

Loose the Seuss

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with a party sponsored by the Huntington Learning Center from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, with stories, crafts and fun for kids.
