Cazenovia residents honored for academic achievement

UNH names Horowitch to dean’s list

Megan Horowitch, of Cazenovia, earned Highest Honors on the dean’s lists at the University of New Hampshire for the fall semester of the 2011-2012 academic year.

Highest Honors are awarded to UNH students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.7 or better out of a possible 4.0.

Deskins makes dean’s list at Hofstra

Brittany Deskins, of Cazenovia, has been named to the fall 2011 dean’s list at Hofstra University.

Hofstra is a dynamic private institution which offers 150 undergraduate and more than 160 graduate programs in liberal arts and sciences at their campus on Long Island.

Benedict commits to Cornell

Aaron Benedict, of Cazenovia, recently made a commitment to Cornell University to wrestle.

A student of Christian Brothers Academy in DeWitt, Benedict signed his letter of intent on Feb. 2 in De La Salle Hall.

Cortland names area residents on dean’s list

The following area residents were named to the dean’s list at SUNY Cortland for the fall 2011 semester:

Benjamin Bowers, son of Rosie Ryan and Dale Bowers of Cazenovia. He graduated Cazenovia High School in 2009 and is currently a senior majoring in physical education at SUNY Cortland.

Michelle McGinnis, of Cazenovia. She is a sophomore majoring in biology.

Honorees must earn a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while completing 12 or more credit hours of classes during the semester.

Local students named To St. Lawrence dean’s list

The following students have been selected for inclusion on the dean’s list for academic achievement during the fall 2011 semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Liam B. Ryan, of Cazenovia. Ryan graduated from Cazenovia High School and is a member of the St. Lawrence University Class of 2015.

Shannon C. Smith, of Cazenovia. Smith graduated from Manlius Pebble Hill School and is a member of the St. Lawrence University Class of 2013.

To be eligible for the Dean’s List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6, based on a perfect 4.0 scale.

Ash makes dean’s list at Wells

Cody Ash, of Cazenovia, was named to the Wells College dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. Ash graduated from Cazenovia High School and is currently a senior majoring in psychology at Wells.

The dean’s list consists of students who earn at least a 3.5 grade point average for at least 12 hours of coursework in a given semester.
