Jamesville-DeWitt Girl Scouts pose for a photo during a celebration of the organization’s 100th birthday in Cleveland, N.Y. Provided
Seven Girl Scout troops from Jamesville-DeWitt recently celebrated the organization’s 100th birthday with a winter encampment at Vanderkamp in Cleveland, N.Y. Troops from third to 11th grade participated in outdoor activities, a talent show, team building activities, crafts and more.
They also worked together to create dozens of “birthday party in a box” sets as their event service project. These boxes were created from decorated clementine boxes and then filled with all the items necessary to celebrate a child’s birthday with a themed party. Each of the seven troops distributed their boxes to a Central New York charity or food pantry of their choice.
