Marla vanNieuwland vaulted to career-best 7-0 in the pole vault for fifth and also achieved a personal best of 29-6 for sixth in the triple jump. Liz Pittman earned fourth in the triple at 30-8.5 while Hannah Light-Olson took fifth with a career-best 30-8. Veteran thrower Molly Woodworth led the Lakers with a 30-0 fourth place effort while Carly Hazer and Sarah Haley each tied their personal bests in the shot.

In total, 25 members of the Lakers’ squad competed in the championship. The team scored in every event and won seven of 15 events for the decisive win. Thirteen girls advanced to the elite State Qualifier meet on Feb. 22 to vie for the honor of representing Central New York at the State Championship. The Lakers achieved qualifying times and distances in twelve events and will likely focus on nine of them in the high-caliber competition.
