Rachel Heyman, right, stars as Madame Thenardier in JD’s production of “Les Miserables,” which opened last night and continues with three performances this weekend at JDHS Osborn Auditorium.
continued How about makeup and costuming?
“That’s not bad. I have to paint a few teeth black, apply dirt to my face and tease my hair. Then, of course, I have to put on the fat suit because the character I’m playing is often a larger woman.”
Where are you headed next year?
“I’m excited about being accepted at SU to study music education. Long term, I’d like to go on to be certified for high school choral work.”
Are you looking forward to opening night?
“I certainly am. It’s a great feeling when the curtain rises.”
“Les Miserables” opened at JDHS Osborn Auditorium Thursday, Feb. 9. More performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 11. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be reserved by calling Eithne Picone at 251-2956.
