— To the editor: Many thanks are extended to the 13 former Van Buren School gym class “kids” for helping me collect bottles and cans on Dec. 3, 2011. The kids presently are men and women in their 30s, 40s and 50s who helped me to collect $533 to benefit the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau.

Thanks are also extended to Sheila Heaton and members of Baker High School’s Key Club and the Radisson, Dexter Parkway, Curtis Avenue, the Brown Tract and Baldwin Hill communities.

Individual cash donations were also made to benefit the Christmas Bureau that provided for the needs of 178 families this holiday season.

John O’Neill is the former Van Buren Elementary physical education teacher.
