Caz girls track are OHSL League Champions

Lady Lakers dominate division and earn repeat title

Captain Caroline Marshall won the 1,500 in 4:57.39 (just .03 from her school record) and came within 1.3 seconds of the school record in the 1,000-meter run as she took second in 3:06.83. Marshall also led off the Lakers’ second place 4x800 with a 2:31.3 split. She was joined by Grace Milmoe (2:38.9), Margaret Wolsey (2:34.8) and Jeanette Cudney (2:31.6) to run a 10:16.73, their best time of the year and the third fastest in the section this year. Cudney smashed her own school record in the 3,000 with an amazing 10:55.72 effort to claim third place.

Rae Tobey also had her best time of the year (11:20.23) to take fourth. Cudney also picked up sixth in the 600 in 1:50.07. Wolsey ran her best 1,000 of the season (3:14.67) to take fifth while Megan Stanford had a personal best time of 5:21.04 in the 1,500 for fourth place.

In total, the Lakers claimed 10 of 24 first team all-league slots and 11 of 24 second team slots to lead all teams in the 13 team Liberty-Patriot Division. The girls will be in action at the elite Select Meet on Feb. 7 before defending their Section III title on Feb. 18.
