Western Gateway Improvement project delayed again

— —The board made one reappointment and two new appointments to the Town Board of Assessment Review. Paul Fiutak was reappointed for a five-year term, to expire Sept. 30, 2016; Joe Calipari was appointed to fill an unfinished term to expire Sept. 30, 2013; and Mike Zuber was appointed to fill an unexpired term to expire Sept. 30, 2015.

—The board scheduled a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1, concerning the town’s intention to apply for a county community development funding grant of up to $50,000. The grant would be used to upgrade the entrances to the public restrooms in the Simms Building in Austin Park to make them handicapped accessible.

—The board approved a budget funds transfer not to exceed $20,000 from the Recreation Equipment Reserve Fund to use for upgrading the swing sets and playground equipment at the Skaneateles Falls and Mandana Parks. The transfer is subject to a permissive referendum under town law, which requires a 30-day wait period to allow residents to demand a referendum on the issue.

—The board approved a motion to sell an old trash truck and packer as surplus equipment for an estimated $58,000 either by auction or bid. The money would go into the town’s transfer station reserve fund. The action is subject to a permissive referendum under town law, which requires a 30-day wait period to allow residents to demand a referendum on the issue.
