Cazenovia Every year, the Cazenovia Lions Club honors a number of local students for their academic and civil accomplishments by honoring them as a “Student of the Month.” The designation is based upon exemplary school and/or community service exhibited by the young resident.
The students who receive the honor will each be acknowledged at a gathering of the Cazenovia Lions Club at the end of the school year.
Sally Langan, a senior at Cazenovia High School, was selected as Cazenovia Lions Club Student of the Month for November 2012. She is the daughter of John and Allison Langan, of Cazenovia.
Langan’s nomination was submitted by Kurt Wheeler, a member of the Cazenovia High School Faculty. “Sally has not only given generously of her time to participate in numerous service activities herself, (Earth Day Cleanup, July Fourth Parade and Village Cleanup), but her leadership has also created opportunities for scores of other students to serve in activities such as Crop Walk and the Toy Shop Project,” Wheeler wrote. “Her initiative, drive and spirit make her a role model for other students. Her citizenship in the community, as mentioned above, and school (Student Council President, Varsity Tennis and an exemplary scholar) make her very deserving of this award.”
The Cazenovia Lions Club announced it is pleased to honor Langan for her service to the school and community.
Student of the month nominations can be made by students, school staff members, parents or community members. Nomination forms are available from the assistant principal’s office at Cazenovia High School or from the Cazenovia Lions Club.
