— Parents and family packed Elbridge Elementary School's cafeteria on Dec. 20 for the annual Third Grade Holiday Concert.

The audience chuckled and cheered as the children, under the direction of music teachers Marisa Fagliarone and Andrea Love, belted out "Paint the Town December," Calypso Noel," "The Chipmunk Song," played a lullaby on recorders and finished up with "Jingle Bells" and "Hear the Sleigh Bells."

"In light of everything that has happened," Miss Fagliarone said, referring to the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, "we needed this. We need these kids to sing for us."

Jacki Stebnicki, the aunt of Evan Grobsmith, 8, watched the show with her infant son, Adrian.

"I loved it," Stebnicki said. "Especially after what's happened it was nice that they continued to have it. We needed to have that."

Principal Ellen Leuthauser was proud of the third graders.

"I just think they do a fantastic job," she said. "It's a rite of passage and it's an enjoyable experience."
