Learn to cross-country ski or snowshoe

This winter, Beaver Lake Nature Center invites visitors to explore the winter woods and meadows. Rental snowshoes to fit most feet are available for $3 per hour when the trails are covered with a protective base of snow. Beaver Lake Nature Center offers two trails exclusively for snowshoeing, four trails exclusively for cross-country skiing, three walking trails and a multi-use trail. These designations allow for safe, perfectly packed trails for the majority of our winter visitors.

Visitors wishing to snowshoe in good company may join a naturalist and other guests for an hour-long Weekday Snowshoe Jaunt at 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 2 to Feb. 13. Benefit from a naturalist's insights, along with the light aerobic exercise. Snowshoes may be rented from Beaver Lake for $3 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tracking wildlife on snowshoes

FREE; registration required – call the nature center to register, beginning at 8 a.m. the day of the hike, and to check snow conditions. While this program will be offered regardless of snow cover, it will only be on snowshoes when snow conditions are acceptable.
