Tennis lesson

Taught by a USTPA Certified Professional Instructor from Tennis-n-Gear, lessons will be held Friday evenings and Saturday mornings (Jan. 4 to Feb. 23 at Gold’s Gym, 7455 Morgan Road) for youth 5 to 14 years old. Please note: there is an additional yearly fee to join the Tennis-N-Gear Academy; call 451-5050. Registration required; inquire for fee.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi, a soft and gentle form of exercise primarily practiced for its health benefits, dealing with tension, stress and health recovery, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31 and Feb. 7 at the Lysander Town Hall. This slow-moving series of movements enhances health and can be practiced by people of all ages and abilities. Registration required; inquire for fee.

Basic white bread making class

Learn how to make homemade white bread from beginning to end using yeast, sugar, salt, flour, eggs and water. Using a recipe from the Best of Bon Appétit, the class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Lysander Town Hall for participants 16 years old and older. Class includes a discussion about making wheat bread, pizza dough and a delicious coconut raisin bread recipe. Registration required; inquire for fee.

Beginner guitar lessons

Get your guitar out of the closet, blow off the dust and join us for guitar lessons. This class of group lessons covering basic chording and a variety of strums, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 16 to March 13, at Van Buren School’s music room. For participants 8 years old and up, the class will also learn some solo pieces. Participants must bring a guitar as this will be a “hands-on” hour of strumming; electric guitars are okay, but with no amp. Registration required; inquire for fee.
