— She insists that the name for the store wasn’t inspired by ongoing doomsday speculation. “Survival Adventure” was already taken in New York State, she said, “and you have to pick a name nobody’s got. And the apocalypse part nobody had in their name so I was like, all right.”

Ford lives in Fayetteville with her two young children and her husband, Antonio. She spent 12 years in the Navy, where she went through a Search Evasion Rescue Escape class and became interested in all things survival.

Survival: Adventure to Apocalypse is located at 511 E. Genesee St. in the village of Fayetteville. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
