continued She insists that the name for the store wasn’t inspired by ongoing doomsday speculation. “Survival Adventure” was already taken in New York State, she said, “and you have to pick a name nobody’s got. And the apocalypse part nobody had in their name so I was like, all right.”
Ford lives in Fayetteville with her two young children and her husband, Antonio. She spent 12 years in the Navy, where she went through a Search Evasion Rescue Escape class and became interested in all things survival.
“They leave you outside for four or five days and then you get captured and you’re a fake prisoner of war,” she said. “And you don’t get to eat the whole time. You just get water because they don’t want you to die.”
Survival: Adventure to Apocalypse is located at 511 E. Genesee St. in the village of Fayetteville. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
