LETTERS: CCP Director urges residents to donate to UCC this season

To the editor:

Please consider a donation to the United Community Chest of Cazenovia, Fenner and Nelson this month.

A community is defined as a unified body of individuals who share a common interest.

Here in Cazenovia, we exemplify a community daily through our continuous support and generosity from one group to another.

We send our students in with canned goods to Burton Street Elementary School that will be donated to CazCares.

Our dedicated high school students work hard at the Project Café Toy Shop to raise money for various causes to help surrounding communities in need.

Our public consciousness is demonstrated in so many ways. Families purchase meats from local farmers, belong to food co-ops for local produce and make choices to buy gas and other merchandise from local vendors.

Without this community spirit and generosity, many essential programs and opportunities would not exist.

The United Community Chest of Cazenovia, Fenner and Nelson raise money each year to help a wide variety of local organizations that serve children, the elderly and families in need.

Last year, almost $33,000 was awarded by UCC for these worthy causes.

Here at Cazenovia Community Preschool, we have been an extremely fortunate benefactor of funds. With this support, we are able to provide tuition assistance to many families so that their children can attend preschool.

This allows us to continue our mission to provide quality learning experiences for children of Cazenovia and surrounding areas, regardless of income.

Without support from UCC, many programs like ours would struggle to continue to make this kind of positive community impact.

Please check your mailboxes for your Neighbors Helping Neighbors fund drive letter and consider a donation to the United Community Chest. Thank you.

Director, Cazenovia Community Preschool
