Caz Village Board adopts standards for new streets

In other board news:

—Trustee Peggy Van Arnam gave an update on the parking situation in Cazenovia, which will be further examined during the next meeting of the Parking Committee. The board unanimously passed a resolution allowing no parking tickets to be written in the village from Dec. 15 to 31 — for first-time offenders.

—A public hearing will be held at 6:45 p.m. before the Jan. 7, 2013 village board meeting to gather more comments regarding future regulations and permissions for items to be placed on the sidewalk within the Historic Cazenovia Business District.

—Mayor Wheeler offered an update on the Economic Health and Heritage Committee, and announced Dan Cooper has begun talks of building a hotel “on the outskirts” of Cazenovia. A public hearing to further discuss the findings and work of the EHH Committee was set for 6:50 p.m. Jan. 3.

—Trustee Amy Mann announced she had sent out the 2013 application for Tree City USA designation from the Arbor Day Foundation, and the tree commission plans to next meet in January.

—Trustee Dave Porter announced the Cazenovia Volunteer Fire Department has found a new member in resident Blake Wahl, and said the Burton Street Ice Skating Rink will be ready for public use once the temperatures allow the surface to form.
