— To its credit, J-D kept shooting - and the 3-pointers started to fall, five of them in the quarter, three by Dom DeRegis, who would finish with 15 points, just behind Kinsey's total of 17 points.

But the Rams never got closer than nine, 52-43, and Ludden would put the game away as Kaigler finished with 21 points and Hackett, with 17 points, was right behind him, the formula that worked so well in last year's state title run.

What also helped was the multiple defensive looks the Gaelic Knights threw at J-D. From half-court sets to full-court pressure, Ludden kept the Rams' young lineup flustered, causing turnovers and extra possessions on the other end.

Now both sides head to the weekend's Peppino's Invitational, where the Red Rams face host Henninger on Friday night at 8 p.m. and Ludden has a highly-anticipated clash with Class AA favorite Fayetteville-Manlius Saturday at 4 p.m.
