Skaneateles YMCA and Community Center offers multiple programs for kids in December

Winter Gymnastics Camp

Instructor Aaron Gaffney introduces children to gymnastic basics — balance, body control and basic gymnastic skills — in a safe, effective manner. Gaffney is a former elite level competitor, a Junior Olympic National All Around Champion, state and regional champion and a nationally ranked gymnastics official and head coach of Oswego Varsity gymnastics. Tumble Tots, for children ages 3 through 5, meets from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28. Move, Move, Move, for children ages 6 and 7, will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28.

Teasels in Training Winter Camp

This three-day program for two-year-olds is designed to keep them engaged and immersed in winter play activities. Songs, games, perceptual motor activities, fun and messy play. Teasels meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 26 through 28.

Frosty Fun for 3’s and 4’s

Preschoolers will enjoy snow-themed active play. Finger plays, songs, story time and movement activities, along with creative art projects. Please send outdoor clothing, weather permitting. Program will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28.

Learn to Skate Camp

Join the professional skating staff for this three-day camp and learn to skate or improve your skills. Open to both new and experienced skaters. Camp will be held Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28. New skaters will meet 12 to 12:30 p.m.; beginning skaters meet 12:30 to 1 p.m.

Holiday Break Hockey 2012 Skills and Drills

Geared toward squirt–peewee levels, this clinic is designed to sharpen your hockey skills. Clinic will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28.

School’s Out Program

The Skaneateles Y offers a full-day program on school vacation days for children ages K through 12. Under the supervision of caring, dynamic staff, children enjoy swimming, skating, games, crafts and holiday fun. School’s Out is open from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. The program is licensed by NYS, so pre-registration is required.
