These blessings of memory, ambition and consciousness suggest the three homes of your being, sort of like that old declaration of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
It is the home of your youth that allows you to grow free, safe, healthy, educated, resilient, resourceful and ready. It is the home of your future that conceptualizes true love, a new family of your own, economic security, the fulfillment of attainment, social satisfaction and the pure purpose of fun. And it is your life itself that allows you air, food, water, the magic of sleep and the thoughts of the sublime.
Even the homeless are not without these three blessings. Perhaps it would be more precise to call them houseless because they do have their pasts, futures and souls.
In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights.”
You may be born equal, but from there the paths are a billion fold. Some of you live in castles, some in cabins and some in cardboard boxes. Together you represent the holy Earth which houses all the homes and the zeitgeist of the planetary community.
Maybe you can give life to a light on a string this year and trick out your soul. I’ll just tell the neighbors in my tree to branch out.
