COLUMN: Escape the heat and do some book browsing

— Tech help drop in

Master your ereader, smartphone, laptop and other tech gadgets with help from our librarians at 1 p.m. Friday afternoons. Granted we do not always have the answer at our fingertips but we know where to look it up.

Double wine carrier basket

Celebrate the harvest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, with an appropriate host gift a double wine carrier basket. There is a $30 materials fee for this project and registration is required.

Jobseeker intensive

The kids will be going back to college soon and the job shuffle begins again. Get yourself in fighting trim for the next round of interviews and applications at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, with a session on interviewing skills.

Writers group

Neither rain nor snow nor dead of night can stop our authors from their appointed meetings. Join the group for advice, support and more at 7 p.m. every other Tuesday in the storytime room. This month’s final meeting is Aug. 21.

Papercrafting workshop

Spice up your scrapbook or plot a major papercraft project under the supervision of our very own papercraft wizard Missy Shipman at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23. There is a $20 materials fee for this session and registration is required.
