The Baldwinsville Central School District will officially dedicate its new concession facility in memory of Coach Bill Neufang on Sept. 7.
Baldwinsville On Friday, Sept. 7, the Baldwinsville Central School District will dedicate its new concession facility at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium in memory of Coach Bill Neufang.
The community is invited to attend the dedication ceremony, which will be held at 4:45 p.m. in the lower level of the concession stand before the 6:30 p.m. kickoff of the first 2012-13 home football game. Baldwinsville is scheduled to play Henninger High School.
Coach Neufang was a teacher in the district from 1957 until his retirement in 1987. He impacted many young lives in the district as a teacher, as a wrestling coach for 17 years and as a football coach for 29 years. He was the first Baldwinsville varsity football coach to lead a team to playoff standings at the Carrier Dome. Coach Neufang was also known as the voice of the state wrestling championship, having been the announcer for the competition for more than 25 years.
He served the Baldwinsville community as a member of the Board of Education for two terms and as a trustee on the village board for six years.
Coach Neufang’s four children are all Baldwinsville graduates. His wife, Mary, said the Neufang family also includes 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
