continued The board set a public hearing for Sept. 4 to continue discussion of the issue. Jim Joseph, a Village Trustee, explained that this will give both residents and board members a chance to become more familiar with the findings of the committee. “We want to do more homework and we are encouraging further dialogue with the residents of Cazenovia. We clearly have more listening to do.” Joseph said.
A second public hearing was held to gauge public opinion on the village’s efforts to establish standards for roads that are in agreement with the New York State Department of Transportation standards. There was some public comment regarding the classification of certain streets in the village under these standards.
The board also discussed a request by Chapman Properties to have their land considered a part of the village, a process that would require extending sewer and water systems to the land and therefore will require environmental review.
Additionally, there was a discussion regarding support for a Sewer/Lake Water Quality Initiative which would add houses outside of the village to the village’s sewer system.
The board was also updated on the Carpenter’s Barn Project as well as the Stormwater Project.
Due to Labor Day, the next Village Board meeting will take place on Tuesday Sept. 4.
