To the editor:
The farmers and vendors of the Skaneateles Farmers Market appreciate the support of our customers not only during this extremely dry summer season, but every year. On Thursday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 18 the market will offer free popcorn and a chance to win a gift basket of assorted market related items donated by the vendors of the market.
Ours is a unique market. The model market has established strict guidelines that require vendors to sell only agricultural products. The Skaneateles Farmers Market is what the name says and is one of very few where the person that produces the product is also the person selling it to you. There have been several “farmers markets” that have popped up that really are open markets. Open markets are those that allow resale items, such as flea market items, not necessarily locally grown produce.
Please shop at the Skaneateles Farmers Market on Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Austin Park Pavilion, 1 East Austin Street, and wait in anticipation for the whistle to blow and the just picked crops to be waiting for your purchase.
