The third annual Manlius Mile and Bryan’s Grizzle 5K will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at Mill Run Park in the village of Manlius. The mile run/walk starts at 9 a.m., the kids’ run/walk follows at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K kicks off at 10 a.m.
Bryan M. Place, of Manlius, passed away unexpectedly in January 2010 of an aortic aneurysm. His family and friends organized the Manlius Mile to be held in his honor, recognizing his substantial commitment to the local Manlius community as well as his athletic achievements as a distance runner both at Jordan-Elbridge High School and the University of Connecticut.
Bryan took great pride in his Central New York roots. He was active both with his time and through charitable giving, and served as a board member of Catholic Charities. He was also a devoted and loving husband and father. His wife and four children wish to honor him by perpetuating his commitment to helping the families of CNY, as well as to continue his mission to make his small section of the world a better place. Proceeds from the race benefit Catholic Charities of Onondaga County.
All races are professionally timed by Leone Timing; there will be multiple water stations along the 5k course and at the finish of both races. Visit manliusmile.com for more information.
