LETTERS: Lorenzo Driving Competition thankful for turnout, another successful year

To the editor:

On behalf of the many volunteers involved with the Lorenzo Driving Competition, I would like to thank the staff of the Lorenzo State Historic Site, under the leadership of site director Barbara Bartlett, as well as the entire Cazenovia community for the assistance and hospitality expressed to the hundreds of spectators and competitors that attended this year’s event.

The show committee appreciated the support of the many local businesses through their advertising in the program, or the display of the Lorenzo flags in the village and through their general enthusiasm towards the event.

It was so rewarding to chat with spectators — both local and those that came from quite a distance — that make the driving competition part of their annual summer activities.

We are happy to create an event that helps to promote the beauty and the hospitality of our area. As always, a special thank you goes to Pierce Smith for his assistance with promoting the competition.

We eagerly look forward to next year’s 37th annual Lorenzo Driving Competition, to be held on July 20 and 21, 2013.
