DeWitt celebrates history with Canal Day this Saturday

The DeWitt Parks and Recreation Department will host the 44th annual Canal Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Cedar Bay Park. Come for a day of fun, and help celebrate the historic Erie Canal.

The day will feature a variety of activities for all ages including the Day Camp Talent Show, carnival games, musical entertainment, the Page Wildlife Center, wagon rides along the canal, craft and food vendors, Erie Canal displays and more. The fun continues that evening at Ryder Park with Letizia and the Z-Band in concert at 6:30 p.m. followed by a fantastic fireworks display at dusk.

Admission to Canal Day is free. The park is on Cedar Bay Road between Kinne Road and North Burdick Street; a shuttle bus will take people from DeWitt Town Hall on Butternut Drive to Cedar Bay during the daytime activities. For more information call the recreation office at 446-9250 ext. 9.
