J-D track teams sweep ESM

Vasiliou, Fairbanks lead girls Rams; Sterriker, Perrone top boys sides

— As for Will Sterriker, he beat Nate Sturgeon, 16.3 seconds to 16.7, in the 110 high hurdles and also won the 400 hurdles in 1:04.1, while Sturgeon atoned with a 400-meter victory in 54.1 seconds. Sturgeon and Sterriker joined Dylan Volk and Alex Wilmot in the 4x400, which J-D won in 3:51.7, while Sterriker, Volk, Taumeras Howard nad Zach Liebmann took the 4x100 relay in 46.6 seconds.

Liebmann, for his part, won the pole vault, clearing 12 feet, but ESM’s Jeff McDuffie stepped in to take the long jump with a leap of 19’ 9 ¼”, with Sturgeon (18’5 ¼) in third. McDuffie also won the 100 sprint in 11.5 seconds, edging Howard (11.6), who countered by taking the 200 in 24.6 seconds as McDuffie settled for third place.

The Spartans’ Jesse Perrone took over in the distance events, covering the mile in 4:52.9 to easily beat J-D’s Nick Harron (4:59.6) before taking the 3,200-meter run in 10:48.2. J-D’s Isaac Tupper won the 800 over Samuel Dye, 2:19.6 to 2:19.8, as the pair joined Wilmot and Austin Philleo to win the 4x800 relay in 9:23.3.
