“Every nail is pounded tight,” said Kugler. “The quality of work is very good.”
Students take the class for a variety of reasons, thought Steven Atkins says learning how to build a house will be helpful in his future, when he wants to build his own home.
“I enjoy it,” he said. “You’re working with your hands to get the job done.”
The school is now accepting applications for the 2012-13 project. Applicants should own land in the school district, and will pay for all materials and necessary contracting.
The school will also hold an open house at the home on June 6 from noon to 6 p.m.
