Skaneateles BOE adopts $29.1M spending plan

Budget reductions total $400K since December

— “I’m very pleased with our budget. Programmatically, we still have maintained to provide for all of our students,” D’Angelo said.

Copies of the budget will be available April 24 in school offices. District residents will have an opportunity to address the board regarding the budget on May 1; the annual budget vote and Board of Education elections will take place May 15.

Also at the meeting:

—The board approved a change to the school calendar to convert May 25 to a vacation day for students and staff due to an unused snow day. The additional day will give the district a four-day weekend for the Memorial Day holiday.

—The board approved the appointment of Gary J. Gerst to the position of primary school principal. Gerst will begin his three-year probationary period July 1 as the new principal at Waterman Primary School and fill Marianne Young’s seat as she is set to retire this year.
