Wanderers’ Rest announces annual ‘Bone Appétit’ event

Animal Shelter kicks-off spring 2012 with wine tasting, silent auction, celebrity guests

From 7 to 9:30 p.m. on April 27, the Lincklaen House in Cazenovia will once again come alive with the sounds of celebration and music as the Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association celebrates its 31st year of service to Madison County and Central New York.

The event, known as “Bone Appétit,” includes a tasting room for cheeses, chocolates and wines from Wagner, Swedish Hill, Glenora and Cazenovia’s own Owera wineries.

Carving stations, passed hors d’oeuvres and wines by the glass from the Lincklaen House will also tempt the tastebuds of guests while they enjoy entertainment by the incomparable Maria DeSantis Trio.

Master of ceremonies will be Becky Palmer from radiostations B104.7, and a special appearance will be made by the event’s guest of honor and Olympic Gold Medalist Beezie Madden.

Cazenovia resident and Olympic gold-medalist Beezie Madden will act as the guest of honor during Wanderers’ Rest’s 31st annual Bone Appétit event, to be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. April 27, at the Lincklaen House.

Tickets are available for $50 per person, or $100 for a patron. Corporate sponsors of the event at the $250, $500 and $1,000 levels receive free tickets and bottles of wine. Tickets and sponsorships are available through the website wanderersrest.org, or by calling Wanderers’ Rest at 697-2796. There are a limited amount of tickets available, so be sure to purchase as soon as possible.

This year’s silent auction highlights many great items including a John Deere lawn mower from Cazenovia Equipment, a gas grill from Buyeas Tru Value Hardware, a Colgate package featuring an overnight trip for two, lunch at the club house and greens fees at the Seven Oaks and a very special item which provides a true insight into “Leaving a Legacy,” a quilt made by the late Ann Alger. A total of 41 quilts were created, with the final one being completed just two weeks prior to her death from ovarian cancer. She left two of the magnificent quilts to Wanderers’ Rest and one of these special quilts will be auctioned at this very event.
