Village of North Syracuse passes budget 4-1

— Despite the disagreement, Village Clerk-Treasurer Dianne Kufel seemed to speak for the majority of the board when she spoke.

“I'm pleased with the budget process,” she said. “I think it went pretty smoothly and I'm glad it's behind us.”

In other action:

The board approved Local Law No. 2, the two percent tax cap override law.

“It doesn't make sense not to pass it as a precautionary measure,” Atkinson said.

The village wide garage sale was scheduled for May 19 and 20.

The village announced it will have 22 bikes available for its Earth Day giveaway.

The board also congratulated the newly elected fire department officials on their positions and announced that the North Syracuse Chamber of Commerce will be having a “hygiene drive” to collect personal hygiene products for local food pantries.
