Organizations work together to keep Van Buren beautiful

— The Town of Van Buren Highway Department will host its annual tire and metal drop of day in conjunction with Earth Day and OCRRA from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 20, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, at 7895 West Dead Creek Road.

The collection days are for Town of Van Buren residents only.

Officials will accept metal items, most household electronics and propane tanks at no charge. Only car and light truck tires will be accepted. Charge for disposal will be $1.50 per tire with a maximum of eight tires per household. Refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers will be accepted for $25 each and microwaves will be accepted for $10 each.

If your group or organization wishes to participate in Earth Day’s roadside clean-up, please contact OCCRA at 453-2866 x202 to register and receive stickers for free disposal.
