A report from the Mottville Fire Company

As a notice and reminder to the public, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued a state-wide burn-ban. This burn ban prohibits any type of burning outdoors due to the mild winter we encountered. The burn ban was put into effect March 16 and will go to May 14 as of right now.

Burn bans were enacted due to the dead vegetation left from the fall and dry weather. Small outdoor fires, even if attended, can spread quickly with the high winds we have been experiencing along with dead vegetation and brush posing a sever danger to nearby homes and families.

Please keep an eye out for outdoor fires and report them immediately. For further information please visit dec.ny.gov.

The company is always looking for new members to join our team. If interested, please stop at the station at 7 p.m. on any Monday night to speak to our crew and pick up an application, or visit our website at mottvillefireco.com and you can fill out an online application.

We thank the community for its continued support and I thank all the members for their hard work and dedication to keep us Professionally Staffed by Volunteers.

Geoffrey R. Pitman is the Chief of Fire for the Mottville Volunteer Fire Co.
