A report from the Mottville Fire Company

Once again the volunteers from the Mottville Fire Co., Inc., responded to another very busy month of alarms to those who were in need. The dedicated volunteers responded to 31 alarms in the month of March bringing to year total to 87, another increase from last year. These are alarms included numerous fire alarm activations, motor vehicle accidents, CO Alarm activations, and emergency medicals service calls.

As always, I thank all of our dedicated members for giving their time and experience for those who call upon us. Another big thank you to Firefighter/Driver Dan Sheldon who to date has responded to 86 out of 87 alarms.

The officers and members would like to welcome two new members to our team, Eric Andrews and Alan O’Hara. Both Eric and Alan were welcomed into the fire company recently and we look forward to training and working with both of them. Both new members intend on starting out learning the trucks and pumps so they can become qualified driver/operators.

The members would like to thank the community for the large support and attendance we received at our March pancake breakfast fundraiser as we served almost 500 people. The company hosts two breakfast fundraisers a year, in March and September. We look forward to another great showing at our September breakfast.

On behalf of the fire company, I would like to congratulate Skaneateles Fire Chiefs, Eric Sell, Dan Evans, and Fred Squires for their recent reelection to the three fire chief positions. I have had the pleasure with working with all three chiefs for years and I look forward to another great year.

The Mottville and Skaneateles organizations have made outstanding efforts to further train and educate our departments as well as mutual agreements to help protect our community. Congratulations again to all the Officers elected.
