continued Wood Duck Wander
A quiet guided walk at 7:30 a.m. Saturdays, April 7 and 14, may afford the opportunity to see one of nature's finest offerings at Beaver Lake Nature Center. The striking Wood Duck finds an abundance of natural nesting habitat around the park, through which a naturalist guides the Wood Duck Wander.
From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7, Beaver Lake Nature Center welcomes children for a Super-natural Eggstravaganza. Children 10 and under will discover the challenge of searching for hidden eggs that are not dyed hot pink and fluorescent blue, but are sporting their natural spots and camouflage colors. The Eggstravaganza will include the egg hunt plus opportunities to explore the amazing science of eggs. $5; registration required. Children should be accompanied by an adult.
Waterfowl migration walks
As geese and ducks continue their northerly flight, many species stopover or stay at Beaver Lake. Visitors can learn about their natural history during Beaver Lake Nature Center's Waterfowl Migration Walks. These naturalist-guided walks begin at 2 p.m. on the weekends of April 7 and 8 and 14 and 15 and are free with admission.
Spring vacation camp
Beaver Lake Nature Center is the perfect place for first through fourth graders to spend their spring vacation, April 9 to13. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day of Beaver Lake Nature Center's Spring Vacation Camp, naturalists will take campers around the park to look for critters under a log, play nature-themed games, make crafty creations or picnic in the woods. Camp is $30 per day per child; registration required.
Spring adventure week
There will be plenty of things for families to do at Beaver Lake Nature Center during spring adventure week, the week of school vacation, April 9 to 13. Each day at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., visitors can hear a naturalist's interactive presentation on an animal species that lives around Beaver Lake. At 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. a naturalist will lead a discovery hike on one of the trails. From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. there will crafts and other ongoing children's activities including a children's beetle search along a trail with Beaver Lake Nature Center's special beetle replicas.
