Baldwinsville The Nursery School in the Radisson Community has a new Director, Terri Ferrigan and according to her, it was time to freshen up a bit.
Ferrigan, whose three children attended the program, and who previously taught at the school is thrilled to be back at a place she has always loved. She said she walked into the school and thought it time to polish things up and put a fresh face upon a facility that has introduced children to the love of learning for more than 30 years.
“Fixing things up is the icing on the cake,” Ferrigan said. “This has always been a wonderful program based upon purposeful play. The teaching staff is exceptional with over 50 years of preschool experience between them.”
The new director recently added a large motor activity teaching assistant to the program who invites the children to participate in yoga, obstacle courses, indoor ice skating, relay races, music and movement and more.
“Every activity is designed with the specific purpose of engaging our children in developmentally appropriate activities, and instilling an authentic love for learning,” Ferrigan said.
Recently the children could be seen walking on the moon. The 4’s teacher, Lorrie Simiensyk, created a fluffy area surrounded by space ships and planets. The children walked and rolled on the surface of the moon, as they learned about the solar system.
“Every day is a new adventure for these children,” Ferrigan said. “The creativity and compassion that flow through this place is our winning combination.”
The school is holding an open house from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3. Parents who are interested in the program are encouraged to bring their children and participate in a typical day in session. If you register your child that evening, you will receive a $50 credit on your first month’s tuition. For more information, call 635-2815.
