William Zino will return to the Fayetteville-Manlius High School auditorium stage when the Town of Manlius Recreation Department presents “A Chorus Line” at 7:30 p.m. July 19-21. Zino is a 2011 graduate of F-M now studying music education at the Crane School of Music. What is your role in ‘A Chorus Line’?
“I play the character Al DeLuca, a 30-year-old married man from the Bronx.”
Tell me about your character. How does he fit into the plot of ‘A Chorus Line’? “Al’s background is the least explored, but his wife is also auditioning to be in Zach’s production. Most of the other characters are complete strangers to one another.” How have you prepared for this role?
“I have been in many productions and I’m a student at the Crane School of Music. Fortunately, I was able to see a production of ‘A Chorus Line’ this spring, and tried to integrate that while giving the role my own personal touch.” How many musicals have you been in, and how does this one compare?
“‘A Chorus Line’ marks my 15th musical theatre production, including ‘Les Miserables,’ ‘White Christmas,’ ‘West Side Story,’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ My experience with this show ranks with ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘West Side Story’ as a favorite experience.” Why should people come out to see this musical?
“Of course, the music and dancing are great, but it’s the characters that make the show so remarkable, because everyone will be able to identify with at least one of them. They all have different backgrounds, strengths and personal challenges to overcome – just like real life.” Reserved seating tickets to “A Chorus Line” can be purchased for $13 online at manliusmusical.org, or by visiting the Town of Manlius Recreation Department on Brooklea Drive in Fayetteville. Group ticket rates are also available. For information, call 670-7469.
